WHS Visual Arts – Creating Ceramic Art through a Worldwide Pandemic

Wakefield High School Ceramic 1 Art Students have just completed their hand-building unit for term 1. It has been an unconventional start to the school year, to say the least. Although very different, the productivity coming from the Hybrid model has been a very exciting process. More focused time has been spent on project/sketchbook planning, and the detail in the students’ work proves it. Term one exposed the students to three construction methods, pinch, joined vessel pinch, as well as slab construction. The surface treatments that were explored were; sgraffito, slip and score with appendages, and underglaze painting. Very excited to see where this year takes these students.
